McKinley Open a New Pittsburgh North Office

McKinley Architecture and Engineering hosted an open house to feature our new office in Mars, PA, with 150 guests attending. The Pittsburgh North Regional Chamber organized a ribbon cutting and David H. McKinley, Chairman of the Board, had the honor of cutting the ribbon which employees then signed to commemorate the occasion.
The office is conveniently located with access to I-79, the Pennsylvania turnpike, and Route 19 and about 20 minutes from Pittsburgh and 30 minutes from Pittsburgh International Airport.

The entrance to the office is intended to be welcoming with a large glass entry and open reception leading directly to the main conference room, seating area, and coffee station for guests.

The space is designed to provide access to natural daylighting and windows from every space in the office, and is designed with and “open office” layout along the exterior walls to provide a view from every workstation.

Along the core are spaces for collaboration and privacy including “phone booths” for private meetings which can also be used as hoteling stations for visitors from other offices. A materials workroom, an open collaboration and pinup space, and a print room are also directly accessible at the core from the workstations.

The kitchen is designed to have an abundance of storage and seating available for the team to dine together and host events at the office with a built-in counter that can act as a catering buffet.

Adjacent to the kitchen is a large collaboration space “war room” that can also serve as a large conference room. This space is intended to host project teams for live drawing and design review, design charettes, and layout space for materials review with the team and clients. The space incorporates windows to the kitchen to allow for views into the working session and create a point of interest.

The color palette is a series of inviting light wood tones, cool blues, and grays to keep with a modern look and brighten the space with high ceilings and natural light.
